We are excited to return to school tomorrow! Classes will begin at their regularly scheduled times. Our maintenance, grounds, and custodial staff have been working diligently to inspect buildings, clear entry points and sidewalks, and prepare campuses for our students and teachers. We are incredibly grateful for their dedication and hard work.
In order to facilitate a safe return to school, we have a few weather reminders:
❄️ Students should be prepared for cold and possibly wet weather by dressing warmly and wearing a coat.
❄️ We ask parents and students to build extra time into your morning commute.
❄️ Parking lots may still be slick, please exercise extra caution in carlines.
❄️ Please be patient with parents and staff as carlines may run slower than normal.
❄️ If your child rides the bus, we encourage you to monitor bus stops.
❄️ Bus transportation travel times may be slower than usual. Our drivers will make every attempt to complete their routes in a timely manner, but traveling safely will be their top priority.
Governor Abbott declared a state of emergency prior to the winter storm impacting the state and Lovejoy ISD will begin the process of pursuing a waiver for the missed school days which includes approval by the Texas Education Agency. If the waiver is approved, students will not be required to make up the missed days. If the waiver is not approved, March 23 and April 6 will be used as bad weather make-up days and will be regular school days.
We appreciate your patience and partnership as our hard-working teachers, bus drivers, operations team members, and administrators work to provide a safe return to school tomorrow.
Stay safe and warm, Lovejoy

Dear Lovejoy Community,
Thank you for your continued patience and understanding as we navigate this winter weather together.
Due to inclement weather and unsafe driving conditions, all Lovejoy ISD schools and administration will remain closed Thursday, January 29, 2026. All extra-curricular activities and events will be rescheduled or canceled unless otherwise communicated.
While many major roadways have improved, District parking lots, neighborhood streets, and secondary roads across our community remain icy and potentially hazardous. The decision to remain closed was made after careful consideration for the safety of our Lovejoy families, student drivers, staff members, and bus transportation services. We know these decisions impact families’ routines, and we appreciate your understanding, patience, and support.
We want to express our sincere appreciation to our maintenance, grounds, and custodial teams, who continue to work diligently inspecting buildings, clearing parking lots and sidewalks, and preparing campuses for our students and teachers. We are incredibly grateful for their dedication and hard work.
Texas public school districts are required to provide a minimum of 75,600 minutes of instruction per school year. While Lovejoy ISD has enough instructional minutes to cover Monday and Tuesday's closures, we will be required to use both scheduled make-up days on Monday, March 23rd and Monday, April 6th. Please see the 2025-2026 student calendar for reference: https://www.lovejoyisd.net/o/lisd/page/calendars.
Thank you again for your patience, partnership, and understanding. We are grateful for our Lovejoy families and remain committed to making decisions that prioritize the safety and well-being of our entire community.
Stay safe and warm, Lovejoy.

Lovejoy ISD continues to closely monitor weather and road conditions alongside local first responder agencies and the National Weather Service. While some major roadways are improving, many neighborhood and secondary roads remain icy and potentially dangerous. The decision to cancel school was made with careful consideration for the safety of our Lovejoy families, student drivers, staff, and bus transportation services.
Texas public school districts are required to provide a minimum of 75,600 minutes of instruction per school year. While Lovejoy ISD has enough instructional minutes to cover Monday and Tuesday's closures, we will be required to make-up Wednesday’s snow day on Monday, March 23.
We appreciate your patience, partnership, and understanding as we continue to prioritize the safety of our entire Lovejoy community.
Stay safe and warm, Lovejoy.

Please note: Lovejoy ISD has enough instructional minutes built into the school calendar that Monday and Tuesday’s closures will not need to be made up. We fully expect to be back to our normal operations and school schedules on Wednesday, January 28th.
We appreciate your patience, partnership, and understanding as we continue to prioritize the safety of our students, families, and staff.
Stay safe and warm, Lovejoy.
