Alison Smithwick, Instructional Media Specialist
Colleagues and students have known for years-- if Mrs. Smithwick is not in her classroom, check the library! It's exciting to now be headquartered in my favorite space.
As a classroom teacher for many years, I taught third through sixth grades. For a few years, I worked as a K-5 Academic Coach at a bilingual campus and then spent a couple of years teaching a certification seminar and mentoring first year teachers. When I came to Lovejoy in 2012, I started as a 4th grade math teacher and then moved on to teach 3rd and 4th grade Integrated Studies in the Gate Ten program.
I earned my Bachelor's Degree at Texas A&M University in College Station. I am a proud member of the Class of 1997. Whoop! A few years ago, I completed my Master's Degree in Educational Technology Leadership and Principal Certification from Lamar University. My interest in technology integration and working with students and teachers led me to pursue a position as Instructional Media Specialist at Puster. In January 2017, I entered the doctoral program in the Educational Psychology department at Texas A&M University-Commerce.
I love houses. I love to design and decorate, and you will often find me at antique stores, flea and junk markets, trade days, and home improvement stores. If I wasn't a teacher, I would want to travel the world as a buyer for antique stores and retail boutiques.

Where I've Traveled and Lived
We moved to Lucas when I was in sixth grade, and I attended Lovejoy Elementary. It was the only Lovejoy school at the time, and I went on to Ford Middle School and then Allen High School. In the middle of my junior year, my dad's job took us to London, England, and I graduated from the American School in London. While we were in England, I had the opportunity to travel to quite a few European countries. Now that I am married and have my own children, it is my dream to take them to London someday!
