Take Flight, Mrs. Fisher
I am a graduate of Dallas Baptist University, and in my teaching career, I have been a classroom teacher, special education teacher, and dyslexia therapist for students in grades K-6th.
My husband John and I live in McKinney, and we are blessed to have four children ( Evan -19, Ava-17, Liam-15, and Juliet-12). As a family, we enjoy traveling, attending live music events, and being actively involved in our church and community.
I began working in Lovejoy ISD in 2012, where I had the pleasure of serving students as the lead special education teacher at Lovejoy Elementary. This will be my second year working with the amazing teaching teams at Puster Elementary to support students with dyslexia.
In the Take Flight program we will address all components of reading with direct, intensive and explicit instruction, using multi-sensory techniques. I believe all students can learn and meet the high expectations set for them. I am personally motivated to bring hope and optimism to the classroom each day and to ensure an optimal educational experience that will allow students to reach their fullest potential.
I am passionate about building confidence in students by guiding them to recognize their strengths and encouraging them to take risks in their learning. It is truly an honor to partner with parents and teachers to help students overcome dyslexia and experience success in the classroom and in life. I am looking forward to a wonderful 2018-19 school year!
