Hello from the Art Department. I'm thrilled to be starting my fourth year at Puster Elementary and extremely excited to get to work with all of Puster's AMAZING ARTISTS once again!
I am a 1993 graduate of the University of Northern Iowa where I majored in Art Education. Since that time I have taught every grade level from Kindergarten through post-secondary college and have been fortunate enough to get to teach in several states. This year I am especially excited to have the wonderful opportunity to teach Pre-K students as well.
I have a deep passion for beautiful and intelligently created illustration and graphic design. I've also always had an undying love for cartooning and humorous illustration. Prior to becoming a teacher I was fortunate enough to work for Mad Magazine in New York City as a summer intern. The experience helped hone my ability to think outside the box and successfully use humor to make statements within my personal artwork.
This year we will focus heavily on the creation process in our artwork. With a process focus this year, our objective is to show more student voice in our work. Each piece of artwork should be as unique as the individual creating the work. Naturally we will all try our best to have as much fun as possible while we learn.
I'm so thankful for the opportunity to teach such a gifted group of students. Time for another amazing year of Art at Puster Elementary!
