Dear Puster Parents,
Wow! What a wonderful week for Teacher Appreciation. Many thanks from the staff for the kind words, gifts, and the wonderful lunch provided by the PTA. Thank you to the parents who helped us supervise classrooms so teachers could eat together.
On Tuesday we took our annual rooftop picture. All the students will receive a 5 x 7 print and we will hang a large print in the hallway with our others from the first three years! It is a fun way for us to celebrate Puster! Thank you to Eleanor Michal for a fourth year of being our photographer!
There are only three weeks of school left and there is so much excitement in the air. Grade levels have planned many end of the year activities, so be sure to check your child’s newsletter and see the dates at the bottom of this e-mail for important events.

Holiday and Early Release
Monday, May 28th is a Holiday; we hope you enjoy your 3-day weekend! The last day of school, Friday, June 1, is an early release day at 12:00.
School Supply Order Forms for 2012-2013 The Puster PTA offers school supply ordering to our families through McKinney Office Supply. The order forms went home in Thursday Folders this week. The last day for ordering will be Friday, May 25, 2012. NO EXCEPTIONS OR LATE ORDERS WILL BE ACCEPTED! This year you will also be able to order online through McKinney Office Supply @ http://mckinney-office-supply.myshopify.com/collections/lovejoy-i-s-d/products/puster-elementary. Go to the attachment link for the order form. Orders will be delivered to your child’s classroom on Meet the Teacher night, August 23, 2012.
Last Call for Box Tops! We will have our last collection of Box Tops for the year on Friday, May 18. Don’t forget to send your box tops to school next week.
From the Chess Club Our last chess club day will be Monday, May 14th. It has been a very successful year for the chess clubs! A year ago, our elementary enrollment at this time of year was only 25 kids. We presently have the following numbers: Puster Chess Club -- 21 kids Lovejoy Chess Club -- 15 kids Hart Chess Club -- 43 kids
From the Student Nutrition Department For the upcoming school year, the USDA is making some major changes to the regulations our Student Nutrition Department must follow when serving breakfast and lunch under the National School Breakfast and Lunch programs. Please visit the attachment link to read the letter containing the information regarding the changes.

Beginning on May 14th, 2012 the Student Nutrition Department will no longer permit “charging” on lunch accounts with a negative balance. Please make sure your child’s balance is paid and that he/she has money to purchase lunches for the remainder of the year.
Update information Please take a moment to update any changes you have made with phone numbers and/or who is allowed to check your child out of school. This is extremely important, especially when we have bad weather or other emergencies arise and you need neighbors or friends to pick up your children. Those friends and neighbors need to be listed in Power School as authorized pick up or emergency contacts. You can update your information in the parent portal. Upcoming events for 5th graders and their parents. · Rising 6th Grade Into to The Creek - Friday, May 18th. · Principal's Coffee for Rising 6th Grade Parents May 16th and June 13th both are at 9:30 am at SCMS · Back to School Packets will be sent home with each 5th grader in May. This includes a time line of events, school supply order form, summer reading, t-shirt orders etc.

Lovejoy Country Run, May
19, at Lovejoy High School
Cindy Keil, of Shape IT Naturally, will be warming up the runners and walkers for the 1K and 5K races. After running, enjoy a complimentary pancake breakfast provided by The Original Pancake House, great music provided by Dallas Mobile DJ, bounce houses, face painting, and more.
Another part of the Lovejoy Country Run fundraiser to benefit our students is the Craft & Market Show which will be held until 3:00 pm on race day. Enjoy vendors from our area in a wide array of arts, crafts, goods and collectibles!
Lovejoy Country Run Contest between LISD schools This year we are having a contest within Lovejoy ISD for participation in the Country Run. The school with the most participants will get a trophy and $5 for each student participant will be donated to the winning school.
Come Join Leopard Lacrosse And Be A Part Of The Fastest Game On Two Feet. The Leopards’ Middle School Lacrosse just completed a very successful Spring season and we are expanding the program by adding a 5/6 grade level to ensure a strong future and success of Leopard Lacrosse for the Lovejoy community! SCMS School Store Sale The school store at SCMS is having an end of the year BLOWOUT SALE! Almost all of the inventory has been reduced by 50%. Please stop by and stock up on some great spirit wear items. Items include t-shirts, shorts, capris, hats, coffee mugs, etc. The store is open every M-W-F during the lunch hours as well as Tuesday, May 22 and Thursday May 24.
The Special Olympics Auction is Open and closes on May 15! Place Your Bid. SCMS Theatre Presents: “Cheaper by the Dozen” – May 10th through the 12th This classic is based on the original book written by the Gilbreth children as they recall their fond memories in the house! The play is most similar to the l950’s movie starring Clifton Webb and Myrna Loy. Show dates are May 10 – 12 at 7:00 PM. Tickets will be on sale at the SCMS school store and at the door. Tickets are $5.00 for students and $7.00 for adults. "Old Fashioned" concessions will be available as well!

Fundraiser for Senior Project for Valerie Mattli I am a senior at Lovejoy High School and for my Senior Project I have taken on the role of captain of a team in the May 18, 2012 Relay for Life in Allen (American Cancer Society). As part of my Senior Project, I am running a fundraiser at Panda Express in Allen. My team, Leopards for Life, will receive 20% of the total earnings for the evening of Friday, May 11, 2012.
